Monsters' Parade
Amid the festival’s jubilant throng,
Where music and laughter poured out like a song,
The air smelled of spices, of sweet, smoky fare,
While colors and wonders danced everywhere.
Yet amidst the delight, I caught sight of a girl,
Her brow tightly furrowed, her mind in a whirl.
She clung to her mother, her fear plain to see,
As giants paraded with strange majesty.
Their shapes were outrageous—so tall, so bizarre,
Like beasts from a dream or a tale from afar.
But her mother leaned low, with a smile and a word,
And soon, by her wisdom, her courage was stirred.
“They’re costumes, my dear, just a bit of good fun,
Not monsters or beasts—they mean frighten to none.”
And oh, what a change! Her fear turned to cheer,
Her laughter soon joined the bright hum of the sphere.
For in every great spectacle, truth comes to play:
A child’s fright dissolves when wonder holds sway.
